Tranent School Launches Fairtrade Multicultural Cookbook
Food lovers in Tranent are being encouraged to donate their favourite recipes to a new multi-cultural cookbook, to be published by Windygoul Primary School's Parent Council.
The group plan to compile a selection of residents' favourite recipes in the new cookbook, to be entitled 'Around the World in 80 Recipes', and sell copies to raise funds for the school at their annual May 29 fair.
A parent council spokesperson said: "We are looking for you or your family's favourite or special recipes from around the world, including Scotland!
"They can be from places you have visited or places you have connections with.
"Recipes can be anything from soups and snacks to desserts and drinks and you can submit as many recipes as you like."
As part of a new school drive called 'Think Globally' staff and pupils have also set out to achieve Fairtrade status this year, and anyone interested in submitting a recipe is urged to include Fairtrade ingredients in their contribution.
And artistic pupils at Windygoul, from nursery to P7, will get the chance to show off their skills and design a front cover for the cookbook.
There will be a Fair Trade prize for the best design from every year group, with the best overall design printed.
Every pupil who enters will also win an extra house point.
To submit a recipe or a cover design, complete a form, available from the school office or website http://edubuzz.org/blogs/windygoul/ or e-mail windygoul@hotmail.co.uk by February 26.
