Brodick Highland Games
With so much on offer during the summer holidays, it can be difficult to decide on where to go or what to do! - Especially if you're exploring from your own doorstep here in Scotland.
The Scottish Fair Trade Forum supports all things Fair Trade - and that includes the Isle of Arran, one of Scotland's Fairtrade Islands.
On Saturday 8th August, Arran highlights one of its main events, the Brodick Highland Games. A variety of traditional events including solo piping, highland dancing, heavy events, track and field, caber tossing can be seen... the list goes on.
Amongst the variety of traditional events on offer, the Highland Games are supported with a superb range of Fair Trade stalls selling everything from jewellery to clothes. Remember though, where you can't buy Fair Trade you can buy local. This is particularly important for the Isle of Arran, where some of the best cheese and whisky produced in Scotland can be found.
Arran is easily reached from the port of Ardrossan in Ayrshire. Ferry crossings are regular throughout the day and are operated by Caledonian MacBrayne.
Arran has so much to offer. Beautiful landscapes, high peaks, inviting coves and a relaxed atmosphere.
