Volunteering Opportunities

FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT VOLUNTEER
Location: Edinburgh, also working from home
Commitment: 1-3 days per week in lead-up to Fairtrade Fortnight, minimum of 3 days per week during Fairtrade Fortnight (23 February - 7 March).
Key Responsbilities:
- Helping log and answer queries about the SFTF's Fairtrade Fortnight producer tour
- Liaising with and support local groups planning Fairtrade Fortnight events
- Making travel arrangements for producer tour
- Maintaining notices and events on the website in lead-up to Fairtrade Fortnight
- Serving as office contact during Coordinator's absence from office during Fairtrade Fortnight
- Occasional general office work to support Coordinator and help keep the SFTF office running smoothly
Skills Needed:
- Good communication skills
- Basic website maintenance and editing skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Flexibility

GENERAL WEBSITE ADMINISTRATOR
Location: negotiable
Commitment: flexible, doing regular maintenance and projects with specific deadlines. We have built our website to be as user-friendly as possible and it does not require knowledge of code.
Key Responsibilities:
- Helping grow and maintain our new website
- Uploading photo galleries
- Maintaining the online calendar of events for the SFTF and local groups needing assistance
- Maintaining and updating our news bank
- Helping support local Fair Trade groups, schools, local authorities and others to help them upload their own information onto our website
- Working with SFTF Coordinator to regularly review and update website
Skills Needed:
- Good writing skills
- Experience building and managing websites
- An understanding of the creative, organic and cutting-edge nature of our organisation and Scotland's Fair Trade community, which needs to be reflected on our website
- Ability to work with minimum supervision

SCHOOLS WEBSITE VOLUNTEER
Location: negotiable
Commitment: initial committment of 2-3 days to gather and add material, with regular monthly updates to take approx 4 hours per month
Key Responsibilities:
- Helping grow and maintain our new Schools section of our website
- Uploading school-related photo galleries
- Maintaining and updating our news bank with Schools-related material
- Helping support local schools to help them upload their own information onto our website or build their own webpage, using our template
- Working with SFTF Coordinator to regularly review and update website
Skills Needed:
- Knowledge of the Fairtrade Schools award and good contacts in the Scottish development education sector desirable
- Good writing skills
- An understanding of the creative, organic and cutting-edge nature of our organisation and Scotland's Fair Trade community, which needs to be reflected on our website
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Experience building and managing websites, but no knowledge of code necessary (our website's content management system is a snap to use)
